Giant Cupcakes

For Bri Bri's FIRST birthday and Ali's FOURTH birthday Missy wanted to do big cupcakes:-)

We decorated Bri's today, but will wait to finish Ali's tomorrow at the party!

Love how Bri's turned out, but the frosting was a bit TOO soft. . . . . but, glad how it turned out:)

The Money$$

So, you might have noticed, I don't have prices set on here, and not sure that I will--because so much goes into deciding the price of a cupcake or a piece of cake.

My standard as been around 2.50 per cupcake and 3.00 per slice of cake, and before you go thinking I am crazy think about it for a second! Many many factors go into deciding a price: For example, the complexity of the cake, the TIME invested (even charging these prices when you look at the time put into buying the ingredients preparing the cake/frosting/filling, the decoration, wrappers, the delivery(distance) and the set up, I make less than minimum wage (sometimes WAY less than)). I am not complaining, I work out a price with each customer that I have had. I had never formally put together a contract, but this time I did! I am so proud, it works out so nice to put everything down on paper so there are no questions or misunderstandings. Most people require 1/2 up front so that they aren't fronting the money for all the ingredients/wrappers/decoration and that isn't something I have done, yet-but next time I will. I have learned so much since starting this all:)

I don't want to be that lady that always under charges so that as I built my clientele they are like "well, so and so got if or this much and yada yada." If you truly know the work that goes into the cake, you will know whereCake Boss Says It All! I am coming from:) But, here is a wonderful link for you to read that gives you a little more insight .. . . .
